Would you like to be more confident? You are not alone. We can all agree that confidence is something that is vital to our success. Confidence helps in every single aspect of our lives – confidence is sexy, powerful, and essential. We want to date, hire, and be friends with confident people.
Despite what this Harvard Business Review article states, less-confident people are not more successful. The main points that this article refers to the dangers of over-confidence and not an appropriate amount of confidence. If you are appropriately confident about the situation, it is definitely a positive.
In this post, we will touch upon ways to build this magnetic and elusive confidence that we’ve all heard so much about in our lives.
Here are some ways to build confidence:
#1) Don’t Be Afraid To Fail:
“I always say don’t be afraid of failure, because how far can you really fall? You found out – to the ground. It’s right there. Now you know it isn’t anything that should scare you.
You should be proud that you weren’t afraid – not embarrassed that you failed. You could have made excuses not to walk into the door, but you didn’t. You knew it would be hard, and it would be uncomfortable, and it might be awkward – and you did it anyway. That’s courage.
I’m proud of you.
Finally, I’m rooting for you, too. You took the first step and you fell, but at least you fell in the right direction, so get back up and take the next step. Keep moving forward.”
This was a response that legendary bodybuilder and deity Arnold Schwarzenegger posted on Reddit after someone posted that they were demoralized after getting made fun of at the gym. I love the gym and underdog stories like this make even the toughest of dudes cry.
A lot of people are scared of failure and getting made fun of. They think that people will make fun of them for trying to improve themselves. Let me let you in on a lesson – these people are jealous. These people are jealous that you are taking control of your life and making a change and they wish they had the strength to do the same. These people are known as haters, or as I call them, peasants.
#2) Don’t Care About What People Think
I know you read this heading and rolled your eyes. Don’t roll your eyes at me. I already know what you’re thinking. Easier said than done. How can I not care what people think? Easy. You shouldn’t care what people think about you because of one fact. Are you ready? Nobody thinks about you.
Boom goes the fucking dynamite. Nobody thinks about you. I am the most conceited and self-centered person in my world and I understand this fact. If my huge head can accept this fact, you should be able to understand this in a heartbeat.
Think about it this way. If I asked you to think about something embarrassing that happened to you, it would be no problem. However, if I asked you to think about something embarrassing that happened to your friend Joe, that would be a lot more difficult. This is happening to all your friends now. Everyone is way too self-centered to think about your irrelevant ass.
We now turn our attention to the most effective tip of them all. Fake the confidence until it comes. I’ve now ratted-out every single confident person that you know. They are faking it. How do I know this? I know this because nobody is born with confidence. It is faked until it is attained. Much like starting a new job, you pretend to know what you’re doing until you actually know what you’re doing.
How do you do this? Just pretend to be confident and cocky until everyone thinks you’re confident. Then people will perceive that you’re confident and will treat you confidently. That confident treatment will raise your confidence and then you’ll be fully confident.
Perception is reality. Wa-la! You are now a cocky douchebag and you love it. The real kicker is that now everyone loves you too. You’re welcome.
